i-TunneL helps Ramsgate save energy and money.

With the aim of reducing energy consumption, i-TunneL^® were asked to review the Ramsgate tunnel lighting and suggest possible measures to achieve the goals in mind. Due to the changes to the applicable British Standard and changes in road traffic volume the number of luminaires could be significantly reduced.

Further energy savings were made by introducing highly efficient electronic control gear opposed to conventional gear. The new design also used less lamp types and a higher percentage of high wattage lamps due to the increase in efficacy with wattage experienced with HID lamps.

The whole system will be implemented by simply replacing the gear tray of all the luminaires that are still required in the new design layout. The works are scheduled to take place in April ‘08.
